How to get the ionization states?

Hi Dylan,

How could I get the ionization states if I want to plot profile? For example, Fe xvii and Fe xxiv. I have noticed that https://www.tng-project.org/data/vis/ provides the visualizations for many ions. However, how could I get the precise values?

Thank you and best wishes.

As we discussed in this thread, you can download the "raw data" results of the visualization tool. This would provide a first look at the values you are interested in. You can use such maps to plot 2D (projected) profiles.

However I should caution you that this is meant only as an exploratory tool, and for serious science you may want to derive ionization state yourself (e.g. using CLOUDY). Only Fe up to X is currently supported by the tool.
